Purpose
The Director leads Business Deposit Products in Canada, ensuring strategies, plans, and initiatives are executed to drive sustainable and profitable portfolio growth, while adhering to governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

 

The portfolio includes a range of deposit products such as Interest-Bearing and Non-Interest-Bearing Accounts, as well as GICs/Term Deposits. The incumbent partners with Sales teams (Corporate, Commercial, Small Business, and Wealth) to identify and prioritize opportunities, leveraging market insights and segment expertise. They also support deposit acquisition strategies, performance measurement, and target setting.

 

This unit represents a significant revenue source for the Bank, with strong visibility and strategic importance across the organization and marketplace.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead a customer-focused culture within the team, deepening client relationships through institutional knowledge and broader Bank partnerships.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans that drive sustainable growth and profitability for business deposit portfolios across Canadian Banking, Global Banking & Markets (GBM), and Global Wealth Management (GWM).
  • Collaborate with GTB units and partners to define and communicate a vision and strategy for future growth of business deposits.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive intelligence, regulatory changes, and client feedback to ensure strategies remain relevant and effective.
  • Identify and evaluate market-specific opportunities, new products, enhancements, and positioning strategies, leveraging insights from GTB and local market partners.
  • Review and lead development of strategic proposals and business cases, securing buy-in and resources from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Sponsor customer and product research to improve revenue and market share.
  • Oversee all aspects of Deposit Product Management, including development, maintenance, systems, governance, compliance, risk management, and marketing.
  • Direct product development and lifecycle management, including pilots, rollouts, and Product Master Plans, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with GTB governance.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Communicate policies and objectives to the field, providing guidance on strategic and policy-related issues.
  • Support training programs for product knowledge, business development, and compliance.

 

Leadership & People Management

  • Motivate and lead teams to deliver profitable, competitive product strategies.
  • Foster a high-performance, inclusive environment, driving engagement, empowerment, and innovation.
  • Ensure performance management, succession planning, and employee development are priorities.
  • Manage staffing, workloads, and training needs effectively.
  • Promote adherence to risk management frameworks (Operational, Regulatory, AML/ATF, Conduct Risk) and ensure strong business controls.

  • Demonstrates commitment to personal development and staying current with industry trends.
  • Technical & Market Knowledge:
    • Deep understanding of deposit products and services.
    • Thorough knowledge of Bank systems and their interdependencies.
    • Strong awareness of competitive market offerings.
  • Education & Experience:
    • Degree or post-graduate degree, preferably in business.
    • Several years of management experience in deposit products or related areas.
    • Strong leadership skills to guide diverse teams in a challenging environment.
