About the Opportunity

Our client, a national non-profit, is seeking a proactive and hands-on Director of Finance. In this role, you will play a key part in strengthening financial and operational performance while supporting the mission to advance safe and effective medication use. You’ll work closely with the CEO and cross-functional teams, helping to shape processes, drive efficiencies, and ensure accurate reporting for strategic decision-making.

This is a hands-on role where your expertise will directly impact organizational success. From financial reporting and compliance to IT, data management, and administrative oversight, you’ll be instrumental in optimizing workflows, enhancing reporting capabilities, and supporting a team committed to excellence in healthcare. This is an ideal opportunity for a recently qualified CPA or experienced accountant ready to take the next step in their career.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll oversee all aspects of financial operations, including monthly reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and GST/HST filings.
  • You’ll prepare timely financial reports, provide analysis, and offer recommendations to support budgeting and strategic planning.
  • You’ll maintain compliance with financial and administrative policies, ensuring robust internal controls.
  • You’ll assist with human resources administration, particularly benefits management, supporting the executive team.
  • You’ll develop dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights for leadership.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Non-profit experience or similar environment.
  • CPA designation or equivalent education/experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams and SharePoint; advanced Excel skills required. Familiarity with Sage 50 and iMIS is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Solutions-oriented, analytical, and committed to continuous process improvement.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, professionalism, and emotional intelligence.
