About the Opportunity

Our client, a growing manufacturing organization in the private sector, is seeking a Site IT Technical Support Specialist to serve as the dedicated, on-site IT authority for their Brampton facility. This is a standalone role with full ownership of local IT operations, supporting a fast-paced manufacturing environment while acting as the critical link between on-site business leadership and a US-based corporate IT team.

This position is central to business continuity and productivity. The successful candidate will be the trusted IT partner for end users and leadership alike, balancing hands-on technical execution with clear communication and strong service orientation.

What’s in It for You

You will step into a highly visible role with significant autonomy and long-term stability. As the sole IT presence on site, your expertise and judgment will directly shape how technology supports operations today and scales for future growth.

This role offers exposure to infrastructure ownership, manufacturing-focused IT challenges, and upcoming facility projects, along with close collaboration with senior leadership and corporate IT. It is well suited to someone who values accountability, independence, and being the go-to technical expert.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary IT contact for the Brampton facility, providing Level 2/3 desktop and end-user support
  • Own and manage the IT ticketing system, including incident resolution, service requests, and documentation
  • Deliver hands-on support for desktops, laptops, printers, and shop-floor technology
  • Manage IT assets and inventory, including PCs, printers, and related equipment lifecycle
  • Deploy, support, and maintain printers (approximately 30–40), including break/fix and replacements
  • Support on-prem infrastructure and networking in coordination with corporate IT
  • Provide server hardware support, including racking, renewals, and basic maintenance
  • Perform cable management and light equipment lifting as required in a manufacturing environment
  • Provide emergency and after-hours support when necessary to minimize operational disruption
  • Coordinate with external vendors and assist with oversight of the Canadian IT budget
  • Lead and execute local IT projects, ensuring proper documentation and alignment with corporate standards
  • Support facility-related technology initiatives, including cameras and emergency PA systems planned for 2026
  • Act as the liaison between local business stakeholders and the US-based corporate IT team, translating business needs into technical solutions

Environment & Scale

  • 100% on-premises IT environment
  • Manufacturing facility with approximately 300 employees on site, growing to 400 in 2026
  • Roughly 150 PCs across shop floor, engineering, production, and professional staff
  • Manufacturing facility with frequent movement, shifting priorities, and operational urgency

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on IT support experience in a site-based or standalone role
  • Strong end-user support and customer service skills
  • Proven experience working with IT ticketing systems
  • Hands-on asset and inventory management experience
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and navigate ambiguity
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial environments strongly preferred
  • College diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to business applications and ERP systems, particularly JD Edwards
  • Experience with IT vendor management and budget oversight
  • Demonstrated growth mindset with potential for long-term succession and expanded responsibility
