Ready to suit up as a Community Safety Officer

What matters most in a role like this is your ability to read the environment, anticipate risks, and act accordingly. Your keen sense of observation and strong social skills are your greatest strengths.

As a specialized Officer, physical ability is essential, as you will be moving throughout your entire shift, patrolling municipal properties, engaging with the community, and visiting businesses.

Responsibilities for Community Safety Officer

  • Patrol critical areas to identify any suspicious activity.

  • Perform productive patrols and site visits throughout the community and public areas.

  • React quickly to threats or incidents and document actions taken.

  • Conduct wellness checks.

  • Collaborate with municipal services, emergency services, and law enforcement.

Qualifications for Community Safety Officer

  • Be authorized to work in Canada.
  • Background in criminology, sociology, police foundations, corrections, military, or security experience.
  • First aid certification required, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather.
  • Ability to learn and adapt as procedures evolve.
  • Proficient with technology.
  • You must provide a valid Criminal Record Check, a Vulnerable Sector Check, a clean Driver’s Abstract, and a valid driver’s licence.
