The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has one (1) exciting fixed-term opportunity up to January 29, 2027 within the Finance and Corporate Affairs branch at the Ottawa HQ.

Summary of responsibilities:

The Advisor, Accounting Operations is responsible for assisting in day-to-day accounting functions and special projects. The incumbent is also accountable for processes, controls, and analytical activities as they pertain to accounting operations, and other areas as required. The Advisor, Accounting Operations performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.

What you need to succeed

To qualify for the position, you must have:

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a specialization in finance, business administration or some other specialization related to the duties of the position.

  • A minimum of four (4) years of progressive accounting experience.

  • An accounting designation, preferably a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified General  Accountant (CGA).

  • Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring accounting policies, procedures, processes, controls, and performance measures/standards, specific to accounting  operations.

  • Experience interpreting and implementing complex legislation, CPA Canada handbook recommendations and guidelines.

  • Understanding of the auditing process and its protocols.

  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and associated financial concepts, principles, and practices.

  • Knowledge of principles and concepts associated with financial controls and accountability.

  • Meticulous and thorough, with a high attention to detail.

Valuable skills include:

  • Knowledge of legislation, directives, guidelines (e.g., the Financial Administration Act) and Treasury Board policies/principles relevant to Crown Corporations.

  • Knowledge of CATSA’s mandate and priorities, as well as an awareness of relevant legislation impacting CATSA.

Specific work requirements

  • Ability to travel as required

  • Language Profile: English Essential;

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance ; and

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
