The primary purpose of this role is to support the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Compliance team by exploring advanced data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence techniques. The primary focus will be maintaining, using, developing and optimizing large jobs. Examples of tasks would include integrating new datasets into our processes, reducing runtime error rates, reducing predictive error rates, configuring and organizing new builds.

 


Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:
Ensure processes run smoothly and properly
Improve existing processes
Write code in Scala, SQL, Python, and Bash
Run ad-hoc queries on massive datasets
Analyze model outputs with a critical view to model purpose and stakeholder feedback
Provide technical expertise and support in the investigation and resolution of AML and compliance-related issues, emphasizing AI model outputs
Work collaboratively with a talented team of data scientists
Communicate ideas and insights to peers, managers, and stakeholders to understand model objectives and seek out opportunities for improving processes

Do You Have the Skills?
• Spark and scala experience are essential
• Strong Python with familiarity in core data science libraries such as Pandas and Numpy
• Version control familiarity is required
• Linux and HDFS experience are required
• Experience with sk-learn, pytorch, or spark-ml is an strong asset
• Knowledge of Money Laundering, Trading, and Crime are strong assets
• Strong understanding of advanced modelling techniques and underlying mathematical fundamentals is an asset
• Spanish as a language is an asset
• Master's or PhD degree in a STEM field, with experience on modelling projects and code development
OR
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, with experience on modelling projects and code development
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data science or a related field, preferably within the financial services industry
