About the position

Duties
As a GIS professional with RP Ops, you’ll play a key role in supporting safe, reliable, and efficient infrastructure across the organization. Reporting to the Deputy Engineering Officer and working closely with the Geomatics Team Lead, you’ll take on a variety of tasks and use your technical expertise to turn spatial data into meaningful operational decisions.
In this role, you’ll help ensure the integrity of critical infrastructure by maintaining accurate GIS data and supporting processes such as siting and dig permitting. Your work may include responding to emergency dig permits (for example, during heating line failures), assisting with the siting of new buildings and infrastructure projects, surveying existing works for upgrades, and ensuring high-quality data entry and maintenance in GIS systems.
You’ll work both in the field and in the office—about 35–45% outdoors and 55–65% indoors—giving you a balance of hands-on and analytical work. This is an opportunity to make a real impact while developing your technical skills in a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

Intent of the process
Our immediate need is to staff one (1) English essential position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Gagetown, NB.
An EG-05 position is also being included for anticipatory purposes to address potential future staffing needs.

EDUCATION
EG-04 (Stream 1) & EG-05 (Stream 2):
▶ ED1: Successful completion of a degree or diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or Surveying from a recognized post-secondary institution, or a combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience in GIS or surveying.

EXPERIENCE
EG-04 (Stream 1) & EG-05 (Stream 2):
▶ EX1: Experience in creating, transferring, storing, manipulating and disseminating spatial data in a Geographic Information Systems (GIS), specifically for land and real property management applications (e.g., parcel mapping, property boundaries, land use data).
▶ EX2: Experience in developing maps, managing spatial databases and preparing plans related to land and real property management.
▶ EX3: Experience in conducting topographic surveys to capture as-built conditions of constructed infrastructure, including accurate measurement and documentation of elevations, alignments, and spatial features using surveying instruments.
▶ EX4: Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
EG-05 (Stream 2) only:
▶ EX5: Experience validating data using spatial and non-spatial information and coordinating the improvement, correction, and update of data in a system of record.
▶ EX6: Experience implementing new geospatial data standards and schemas to support modernization initiatives.

▶ AEX1: Experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, including ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Revit.
▶ AEX2: Experience working or volunteering in a mixed civilian and military environment.
▶ AEX3: Experience working in a real property or infrastructure maintenance environment.
▶ AEX4: Experience in developing Statements of Work (SoW), Scopes of Work, or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
