The role:

 

The Director will lead strategic planning and governance for occupancy, stacking, and real estate initiatives across the bank’s global footprint. This role oversees a team of planners and analysts, ensuring alignment with long-term business goals, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.  

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will: 

 

  • Lead the development and execution of global occupancy and stacking strategies aligned with business growth, transformation, and ESG goals.
  • Oversee global portfolio planning, including site selection, space optimization, footprint rationalization, and 5-year real estate plans.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and performance metrics for occupancy, workplace efficiency, and cost optimization.
  • Conduct scenario planning, financial modeling, and risk assessments to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and business units to forecast space needs and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure compliance with internal policies, corporate governance, and regulatory standards.
  • Represent Global Real Estate & Corporate Services in global governance forums and strategic planning committees.
  • Define and implement planning priorities and operational processes across regions and functions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and subject matter experts to deliver on client and business objectives.
  • Lead strategic engagements including RFP development, benchmarking, and cost avoidance initiatives.
  • Provide expert guidance to senior stakeholders, including executive leadership, on resource real estate planning and event execution.
  • Foster a high-performance, inclusive team environment with a focus on coaching, succession planning, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure adherence to Scotiabank’s risk culture, compliance obligations, and business controls.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?  We’d love to work with you if you have: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university Or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Urban Studies, or related program Or MBA (preferred).     
  • 10+ years in strategic real estate planning or workplace strategy, with global experience in banking or financial services.
  • Proven leadership in managing large-scale occupancy programs across multiple countries.
  • Expertise in data-driven decision-making, scenario modeling, and strategic forecasting.
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
  • Executive-level communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with organizational change, mergers, acquisitions, and transformation initiatives.
  • Solid understanding of the need for discretion when dealing with sensitive information and demonstrates the ability to act accordingly. 
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite Products. 
  • Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service.
