The Alberta Wildfire Coordination Centre (AWCC), located in Edmonton, works with the 10 Fire Centres in the Province to coordinate suppression and pre-suppression efforts. The AWCC is open 7 days a week during the peak fire season to assist the forest areas and has a team of seasonal and full-time staff that facilitate wildfire operations across the province.

Operating out of the Alberta Wildfire Coordination Centre (AWCC), the AWCC Aircraft Logistics works closely with the Provincial Aircraft Coordinator to process provincial, national, and international requests for helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. In addition, they work with the 10 Forest Areas to acknowledge Airtanker requests, hire and release aircraft, complete data entry accurately, and gather information for statistical purposes.

About Your Competencies:
Minimum Requirements:
Equivalencies will be considered and candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
Directly related experience or education may be considered on the basis of:
• one year of experience for one year of education or
• one year of education for one year of experience.
*All candidates must be 18 years of age or older as of March 1, 2026, or prior to their start date. Position start date range from April 1 to April 30, 2026.
Assets:
• Experience using Wildfire Management software: Fire Information Resource System (FIRES) and Dispatch.
• Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and OneNote.
• Knowledge of the Wildfire Management program, policies, and standard operating procedures is also an asset.
• Knowledge of aircraft, equipment capabilities, and personnel resources used in wildfire suppression.
Additional Requirements:
• Excellent organization, multi-tasking, and planning skills.
• Ability to work with various personalities.
• Inquisitive, logical & can quickly adapt to changing circumstances.
• Ability to learn and adapt quickly to Wildfire Management software.
• Certificate of Proficiency in Radio (Aeronautical) from Industry Canada.
The following conditions are not required at time of application, but must be provided prior to start date:
• A valid, unrestricted Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License, or equivalent.

• A minimum 3-year Driver's Abstract, showing a record of seven (7) demerits or less (obtained within 30 days of your commencement date and presented to management prior to commencement).
• A current Defensive Driving certificate.
• A valid Standard First Aid certificate with CPR certification.

This requisition is recruiting for seasonal wage AWCC Aircraft Logistics positions that work rotational shifts, with 7.25 hours workday, up to approximately 36.25 hours per week. Evening, weekend, overnights and holiday shifts are required.
Extended hours could be required at little to no notice, depending on the wildfire situation. Hours are accumulated based on work schedule.
