Contributes to the overall success of the Deposits Domain – Pricing and Rates applications within Canadian Banking  in Canada designing, delivering and maintaining solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices and other leading-edge technologies, maintaining high level of code quality, and driving technical discussions ensuring our solutions are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Lead the team’s cloud adoption to align with the bank’s target architecture for our applications. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:


•    As part of a dynamic team lead the design, architecture, estimation and development of technology solutions in working with the solution architect and business partners to provide the best possible solutions within the Pricing and Rates area of the Deposits Domain in Canadian Banking
•    Lead the development of new solutions and enhancements to existing applications and co-ordinate with various teams, business partners and our own team to build consensus on solution design.
•    Work closely with the solution architect on solution options and approach and assist with architecture approvals.
•    Develop high quality code aligning with the bank’s coding standards and enterprise architecture.
•    Assisting in developing coding standards and testing approaches
•    Lead by example in taking initiative on cloud technology like Google cloud which is the target architecture state for our applications.
•    Ensure our solutions are running as per the defined SLAs and take lead with the analysis and problem resolution of issues.
•    Support the business area in their day to day activities related to the applications we support.
•    Be involved in the full life cycle of a project, responsible for producing actionable and complete specifications, writing production quality code, implementation and maintenance of solutions once in production
•    Lead the documentation of technical design and solutions.
•    Work closely with information security to ensure our solution and code aligns with the bank’s information security standards. 
•    Write deployment scripts and leverage tools such as the Accelerator pipeline to promote code
•    Work as a team, collaborating with other Developers, Architects and other teams to realize technical vision and direction per bank architecture standards.
•    Assist with reviewing of solution designs and related code
•    Help other team members in technical knowledge and best coding practices
•    Have passion on learning new technologies as the bank moves towards cloud technologies
•    Consistently execute on the job accountabilities; considers the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture, and conduct all activities in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures
•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, regulatory and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:


•    Degree in Engineering in Computers and systems design or a similar field
•    Experience in banking or financial industry
•    6+ years experience with development in Java, Springboot, Microservices and API development, Python, Devops pipeline, Jenkins, Bitbucket
•    Experience in leading projects.
•    Experience with the SDLC process and agile development.
•    Strong communication skills.
•    Experience with Google cloud, Azure
