Join a collaborative Technology Team in a fast-paced environment, supporting operational excellence at Canadian Tire. As an Application Developer, you will play a key role in maintaining, enhancing, and creating applications that keep products moving safely and efficiently. You’ll support a small IT shop embedded within a business department, working closely with stakeholders on both ongoing support and new development initiatives.
Support 15+ in-house applications, including legacy .NET systems and modern solutions.
Participate in daily stand-ups and collaborate with the business to address requests and project work.
Build new applications from scratch and expand existing applications to increase functionality.
Work with both legacy .NET 4–5 applications and modern .NET Core solutions.
Contribute to the development, maintenance, and support of sustainable applications.
Perform analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation activities to support goals and objectives of assigned initiatives, including documentation.
Collaborate closely with developers, project teams, and internal/external client groups to drive efficiencies and improve decision support for the DC Technology team.
Write and debug code, adhering to CTC/IT standards.
Adhere to strict deadlines in support of project implementations and designs.
Conduct application testing and end-user quality assurance testing.
Deploy break fixes and provide warranty service for business support applications.
Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives throughout the distribution centre and assist in designing new business and systems processes.
Plan, track, and manage multiple work requests—initiatives may be ad hoc or small projects.
Accurately extract and interpret information from a variety of sources to implement solutions.
Participate in self-assessments and audits as required.
Ability to work in a support environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
5+ years of practical experience in application development or as a programmer analyst
Strong experience with C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, WCF, REST APIs, SOAP, and SQL Server
Proficiency in Azure App Services, Azure SQL, Azure Storage, and CI/CD tools
Front-end experience with React.js and Ant Design; familiarity with Blazor is a plus
Experience supporting legacy .NET applications alongside new development projects
Familiarity with performance testing tools like JMeter
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a collaborative approach
AI experience is a plus, but not required
Work in a small, collaborative IT team where your contributions directly impact the business
Gain hands-on experience with both legacy and modern technologies in a Microsoft/Azure environment
