The Global Wealth Engineering (GWE) team is continuously modernizing and enhancing the client and account onboarding platforms for Scotia Wealth Management. Our group consists of several agile teams working closely together to deliver, support, and maintain the client and account onboarding systems to provide the best client experience.

The team is searching for a client-focused full stack engineer who is motivated to design and develop components of enterprise applications and providing consultative guidance on all project assignments. You will work as part of a team to ensure that the business and technical architecture of the delivered solution matches business requirements.  You will be asked to take technical lead on various aspects of design, development and mentoring of resources while working with architects, developers, key business stakeholders, various technical support teams across the Bank, regulatory and compliance groups, and senior leadership.

We are looking for an energetic and ambitious individual looking to make a difference for our clients.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Lead by example in designing, developing, and implementing scalable, performant, and cost-effective full-stack solutions for internal and external-facing applications.
  • Establish and maintain coding standards, design guidelines, and best practices across the engineering team.
  • Drive the development of microservices-based architectures, Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers, and service-oriented solutions that integrate with RESTful APIs and event streaming platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (front-end, back-end, cloud, security, and DevOps) to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
  • Apply deep technical expertise to architect and implement solutions using modern frameworks such as React, Next.js, Node.js, and Java/Spring Boot, while ensuring security and compliance.
  • Provide technical leadership during design reviews, code reviews, and solution architecture discussions, ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Support CI/CD pipeline development, automated testing, and deployment strategies for multi-cloud environments.
  • Ensure solutions meet security-first principles, including encryption, identity management, and secure API design.
  • Challenge the status quo and provide logical and rational feedback on business requirements to ensure quality and value throughout the SDLC.
  • Act as a senior technical resource for troubleshooting, performance tuning, and production support.
  • Able to work at the highest technical level of systems development while maintaining a good knowledge of Wealth Management business strategies and applications.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

About Scotiabank

The Scotiabank Veterans Network (SVN) is committed to supporting veterans, reservists, and military spouses by recognizing and valuing their unique skills and experiences. As a military-friendly employer, Scotiabank actively promotes the integration of veterans into civilian careers by offering a wide range of employment opportunities across the Bank.  SVN plays a key role in this effort, leading initiatives such as a mentorship program designed to support both current and transitioning veterans.

The team was instrumental in driving recent enhancements to Scotiabank’s reservist leave policy and organized the inaugural Valour and Vision Expo in Q4 2024, where industry leaders pledged to support veterans entering the civilian workforce.  In February 2025, Scotiabank proudly served as the lead Banking Sponsor of the Invictus Games, an international multi-sport event that aids in the rehabilitation of wounded, injured, and ill service members—both active and retired.

Additionally, SVN hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including leadership symposiums and annual Remembrance Day ceremonies, to honor and support the military community.
