Purpose

 

As a member of the Global Corporate Affairs team, the Manager, Strategy and Operating Group Communications, support in producing internal and external communications for the Strategy and Operating Group (S&O), which consists of Global Corporate Affairs, Global Marketing, Strategy, Customer Insights, Data & Analytics, and Global Operations. The role will also plan, develop, and deliver effective communications strategies to build awareness of the Bank’s marketing and global sponsorship initiatives, including managing related issues. This position reports to the Director, Strategy and Operating Group Communications and is an individual contributor. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and project manager and have extensive media relations expertise. This individual be required to collaborate with partners across the Bank to enhance communications of S&O initiatives for a range of internal and external audiences.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:  

 

  • Produces, coordinates and executes on various internal and external communications for S&O executives including announcements, events, presentations, videos, and social content
  • Develops and executes internal and external communications strategies and tactics to elevate key Enterprise Marketing and Sponsorship initiatives
  • Supports external communication efforts for S&O overall, including managing inbound media requests, obtaining approvals, developing briefs and supporting with proactive media relations
  • Manages public relations agency partners in their planning and execution of key communications campaigns
  • Monitors for and supports in managing contentious reputational issues
  • Supports with the organization of the S&O Communications team, while working collaboratively with cross-enterprise teams and departments to execute on key communications projects

 

Necessary Skills & Experience

 

  • Superior written and oral presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and work well independently
  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted business relationships, including with senior-level leaders and executives
  • Demonstrated media relations and issues management experience
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, with an ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Familiarity with tools such as Viva Engage, SharePoint, and Cision is considered an asset
  • Fluency in a second language (Spanish / French) is an asset
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to take on tasks outside of core responsibilities
  • A commitment to curiosity, and professional and personal growth

 


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
 

 

  • Post-secondary degree in communications, journalism or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of communications experience, preferably gained in an agency or large multinational environment

 

Working Conditions

 

  • Work is in an unassigned, highly mobile environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.  
  • This is a hybrid role, requiring three days per week in the office (Toronto) and additional in-office presence as needed for events, meetings, or urgent priorities.
