Transportation Planning is responsible for developing and implementing the transportation network to serve the needs of residents and to guide the growth of the City in an affordable and sustainable manner.
You are responsible for the management of short and long term transportation planning studies, including the Transportation Master Plan and relevant sections of the City of Ottawa’s Official Plan.
You: manage the undertaking of needs and feasibility studies, environmental assessment studies, and preparation of functional designs for assigned transit (light rail and bus), roads, bridges, pedestrian and cycling facility projects by multi-disciplinary consultant project teams and in-house staff; liaise and coordinate study activities with various departments in the City of Ottawa, City of Gatineau, federal and provincial ministries/departments/agencies, and various project stakeholders; assist in the planning of the city’s transportation needs and implementation strategies; and evaluate priorities for funding infrastructure in the city’s annual budget.
You also: provide technical support to the Department’s Development Review Branch on transportation issues; provide policy review support to the Department’s Policy Development and Urban Design Branch; undertake research and analysis on transportation matters; monitor the city’s implementation of transportation projects for compliance with approved environmental assessments; and function as a member of an interdisciplinary team on interdepartmental projects.
Completion of 4 year university degree in Engineering or Urban/ Regional Planning
Minimum of 8 years of related experience
