Purpose


Oversees Investment Distribution Management of the – Core Fixed Income Team within Scotia Global Asset Management in Canada ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Drives a customer focused culture throughout the Core Fixed Income Team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, external distribution opportunities, systems, and knowledge.
  • Assist in the development of new Core Fixed Income Team investment mandates and contribute to the creation of a strong brand positioning for the team across all asset classes and geographical regions.
  • Overall responsibility for product positioning for the Core Fixed Income Team and the development of clear and concise selling points and marketing messages for all mandates based on their underlying value proposition; assist with the development of thought leadership driven off the Core Fixed Income Team investment philosophy.
  • Develop an overall plan for product coverage across the team’s resources and ensure consistency of message across all channels and brands (Dynamic, Scotia Funds, JFL, MD Management)
  • Produce specific Core Fixed Income Team research on a variety of topics.
  • Support business development activities; preparing client-specific research, briefing notes and preparing slide packs.  
  • Strong collaboration skills working across key groups including trading, legal, compliance, fund operations, marketing and fund administrators.
  • Take an active role in prospective investor outreach, including working with sales teams to educate prospective investors on the merits of investing with the Core Fixed Income team.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with industry groups to help drive business development.
  • Actively engage in the formulation of key messaging to the market and be an effective communicator of this messaging both verbally and in written format.
  • Be a subject matter expert on the Core Fixed Income Team’s activities by participating in internal investment and asset management meetings to be able to communicate the group’s activities effectively to investors and the market.
  • Play a leading role in the development of materials for investors, including presentations, and other documents as required.
  • Liaise with Dealer Relationship Managers (domestically) and International Wealth Management with respect to the ongoing maintenance of existing investment dealers, including the organization of presentations to investment committees and boards as required.
  • Support the build-out and ongoing maintenance of the Fixed Income investor base across core channels.
  • Execute on special projects as they arise.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations of the Director respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills to enable you to be successful in this role? We would love to work with you if you have:

  • MBA and/or CFA Designation an asset;
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, business, economics or equivalent work experience;
  • 10+ years of experience working in the asset management industry; clear history of work experience in the investment management industry;
  • Understanding/experience in Fixed Income markets desired;
  • Detailed knowledge of financial markets and investment process / strategy and positioning;
