Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.

What you will be doing:

As the Senior Manager, Portfolio Management, you will play an integral role in ensuring the profitability and sustainability of Scotiabank’s mortgage business. You will uncover high-value opportunities to enhance profitability, risk profile, and overall performance of the Real Estate Secured Lending (RESL) portfolio by leveraging analytics, market insights, and strategic problem-solving. By working with partners across Risk, Finance, Treasury, Distribution, and Product, you will help design and execute strategies that improve customer outcomes, optimize portfolio health, and fuel sustainable growth for the Bank in alignment with regulatory standards, internal policies, and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Lead and drive a customer-focused culture that deepens client and broader Bank relationships, strengthens cross-functional collaboration, and delivers meaningful outcomes across the RESL ecosystem.
  • Partner with RESL Finance and Analytics, Risk, Distribution, and Treasury teams to conceive, initiate, and lead analysis to uncover opportunities to improve profitability and performance of the RESL portfolio through cost reduction, asset growth, revenue enhancement, capital optimization, and process controls. You will lead initiatives to implement solutions based on opportunities identified.
  • Oversee the day-to-day performance management of the RESL portfolio, including forecasting, trend analysis, and business insights that support proactive decision-making.
  • Lead the annual Covered Bond Audit in collaboration with Group Treasury and the RESL Securitization Team. The Covered Bond program is a critical component of the Bank’s funding strategy, and a successful annual audit as mandated by CMHC enables the Bank’s continued issuance of Covered Bonds. You will lead a team composed of RESL staff and temporary resources to complete the audit over a 2-4 month period each year.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Post-secondary education with a business or finance focus (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Real Estate Secured Lending and the competitive landscape.
  • Lending experience/background (preferred).
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Solid communication, interpersonal, and negotiating skills to interact with external partners and other Bank stakeholders.
  • Strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
  • A high degree of self-assurance, initiative, and business sense to perform responsibilities independently within established parameters.

What's in it for you?

As a military-friendly employer, Scotiabank actively promotes the integration of veterans into civilian careers by offering a wide range of employment opportunities across the Bank.  SVN plays a key role in this effort, leading initiatives such as a mentorship program designed to support both current and transitioning veterans.
