POSITIONSUMMARY

The Production Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in daily operations at the Grafton facility. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing production activities, supporting production employees, and ensuring that all manufacturing processes operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with quality standards.

 

The Production Supervisor coordinates workflow, addresses production challenges, supports employee development, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to help the facility meet operational targets.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Ensure products meet all quality standards and specifications. Address quality concerns promptly and implement corrective actions when required.
  • Enforce safety protocols and champion a safe working environment. Report incidents, participate in safety investigations, and support ongoing safety improvements.
  • Coordinate daily production activities, including staffing, line setup, shift handovers, and workflow adjustments to meet production goals.
  • Work closely with Maintenance to schedule equipment repairs, prioritize preventative maintenance, and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor key production metrics such as throughput, efficiency, waste, and downtime. Identify areas for improvement and help implement solutions.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and resolve bottlenecks to maintain smooth operations.
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to production staff to ensure consistent standards and skill development.
  • Assist the Plant Manager with scheduling, staffing needs, and resource planning.
  • Maintain accurate production records and prepare routine reports on performance, safety observations, and progress toward KPIs.
  • Support continuous improvement projects including 5S, standard work, and process optimization initiatives.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment.

 

 

 

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

 

  • Post-secondary education in a related field, or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven production experience with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience with the ability to effectively motivate and direct a team.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control principles and health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with production software, reporting tools, and basic computer applications.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to crouch, bend, kneel, and lift or carry heavy items as required.
  • Exposure to noise from machinery and equipment.
  • Mandatory use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
