Position Overview

Calian is seeking a Clinical Psychologist to support the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) through expert psychological assessments for law enforcement candidates. This is a flexible, casual consultant role ideal for a seasoned psychologist with experience in public safety and occupational assessments.

As part of a trusted team, you will contribute to the psychological screening of applicants pursuing high-responsibility roles in law enforcement. Your clinical insights will help ensure candidates meet the psychological standards required for policing in Vancouver.

Responsibilities

  • Review psychometric data including MMPI-3 and 16PF results, provided by VPD’s Recruiting Services Unit.
  • Analyze background documentation such as:
  • Conduct clinical interviews with applicants in a one-on-one, face-to-face setting. Virtual interviews may be permitted on rare occasions with prior approval.
  • Prepare detailed psychological reports summarizing findings, highlighting areas of concern, and identifying topics for further exploration during background investigations.
  • Occasionally engage in case discussions via teleconference with internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain timely communication and be available for consultation as needed.

Qualifications

  • Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience conducting psychological assessments for law enforcement or providing psychological services to police/military personnel.
  • Demonstrated expertise in interpreting psychometric instruments requiring C-level qualification.
  • Proven ability to manage caseloads efficiently and adapt to changing timelines.
  • Must carry professional liability insurance in accordance with provincial regulations.
  • Eligible for PSPC Reliability-level security clearance.
  • Able to conduct interviews in a private office setting or medical clinic setting within Vancouver.
