The Role 

 

The Senior Manager, Communications supports the Director, Global Technology Communications in strategic communications support for the Group Head and Technology senior leadership team, including function and enterprise communications and executive thought leadership opportunities. This role will assist in leading the implementation of all internal and external Technology communications, including, but not limited to, team and enterprise-wide communications, executive thought leadership, and various Technology-related news and opinions. They will promote complementary initiatives with the objective of increasing the positive visibility of Scotiabank’s Technology brand and products. This individual will be expected to produce a variety of high-impact content while working closely with key partners and the broader Global Corporate Affairs team.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will: 

 

  • Drive the development and execution of high impact, engaging communications including:
    • Internal and external Group Head communications involving business line and corporate initiatives, industry topics and other thought-leadership opportunities
    • Working with the Creative Studio to develop multimedia assets and graphics in support of various communications events and projects
  • Develop annual and project-specific integrated communications plans to meet the team objective of running Technology as a business – showcasing Scotiabank Technology, its initiatives, programs, executives, and employees
  • Proactively manage and draft external messaging opportunities designed to facilitate a positive impression and protect the image and reputation of Scotiabank Technology
  • Support and advise senior executives on various communications issues with the media and the public
  • Support regular production of internal communications assets for the global Technology team
  • Develop relationships and interact with corporate, business and industry media contacts and opinion leaders to ensure positive inclusion or exclusivity in appropriate features or articles
  • Offer social media guidance/support for Technology executives, draft social media posts
  • Embrace a high-performance environment with an exceptional ability to work in partnership to influence positive outcomes
  • Communicate Technology vision/values/business strategy in alignment with the Global Corporate Affairs team
  • Champion a customer-focused and performance-oriented culture to deepen relationships across the Bank and enable strong partnerships

Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:  

 

  • Minimum of 10 years corporate communications or agency experience
  • Completion of a Communications or related degree or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in media relations and issues management
  • Demonstrated success in basic internal communications practices
  • Qualified team player, adept at stakeholder relations
  • Project management experience to lead, manage, and monitor simultaneous projects to tight deadlines, and monitor project performance results
  • Exemplary oral and written communications skills
  • Knowledge of Canadian and global media and trends
  • Excellent project management skills/logistics
  • Knowledge of crisis communications management
  • Demonstrable track record of generating positive, measurable and opinion changing initiatives
  • Knowledge of the North American financial sector an asset
