Desk Description:

BMO Capital Markets is a leading liquidity provider in the North American ETF market. Our ETF Market Making desk provides continuous two-way markets across a broad range of domestic and international ETFs, supporting both primary and secondary market liquidity. We work closely with ETF issuers, institutional clients, and capital markets partners to deliver efficient execution, competitive pricing, and deep market insights. The desk leverages data-driven trading, quantitative models, and multi-asset coverage to manage risk and facilitate client flows across global markets. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide two-way markets and manage risk across equity and multi-asset ETFs.

  • Contribute to systematic strategy development through data validation, parameter tuning, and performance analysis.

  • Partner with technology and quant teams to identify and implement workflow automation to improve pricing, quoting, hedging, and booking efficiency.

  • Challenge existing desk workflows with a continuous improvement mindset, focusing on scalability, latency, and reliability.

  • Participate in day-to-day trading operations, including trade booking, reconciliation, and risk reporting. 

Qualification:

  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience in ETF, Equity or Derivatives trading

  • Option, structured product experience is a plus

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and programming skills (Python or similar)

  • Solid understanding of market structure

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in fast-moving markets

  • Bachelor’s or Master degree in Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field

  • Exceptional communication and teamwork skills; comfortable engaging with internal and external stakeholders

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
