This full-time internship is designed to introduce students to the dynamic, client-focused environment of Wealth Management at Scotiabank, and provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute meaningfully to the business. Is this role right for you?

Contributes to the overall success of the Research team in Toronto ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s research priorities and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

During your internship you will join a dynamic team, working alongside highly trained professional analysts and portfolio managers. We are looking for someone with a related area of study (finance, portfolio management, sustainability, or accounting). Successful candidates will have a demonstrated passion for sustainable investing.

In this role, you will:

• Work with ESG Research Analysts and Associates performing ESG analysis and ad-hoc projects. Projects may include climate and/or diversity, equity & inclusion research, data organization, research on emerging ESG topics/trends, and research to support internal presentations.
• Understand how JFL’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with the firm’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
• Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.

Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if:

• Enrolled in post-secondary education or in post-graduate education (i.e. master’s degree) with a focus in sustainability, sustainable development, business administration, finance, economics or another related field
• Top grades and standing GPA are considered an asset
• Passion for ESG and sustainable investing
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Comfortable working with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Organized, with attention to detail
