Our client working in Welfare Services is seeking an experienced Communications Consultant to review, refine, and prepare updated web content for the Military Family Liaison portfolio. This short-term consulting engagement (approximately 35 hours total, spread over several weeks) will focus on ensuring that existing drafts, slide decks, and related documents are aligned, clearly written, and ready for the Marketing and Communications team to upload to the website.
This is a content review and development role—not technical web editing. The consultant will bring a strong public-facing communications lens to ensure materials are clear, consistent, and accessible to families and the broader public.
Review the current website content, drafted materials, slide decks, and reference documents to determine what needs updating, adding, or reformatting.
Develop clear, user-focused content that is easy to understand for families and the general public (not internal audiences).
Ensure consistency in tone, terminology, messaging, and alignment with the organization’s branding guide.
Prepare finalized content in the appropriate format for handoff to the MarComms team for upload.
Recommend improvements to website flow, structure, and clarity.
Align all materials with the QR-code landing page strategy and ensure the content remains accessible and not overly busy.
Optionally (nice-to-have): identify opportunities or space for video content on web pages.
Produce light supporting communications pieces if needed (e.g., simple postcard-style info sheets, guidance drafts).
Collaborate with internal stakeholders as needed between review sprints.
Strong background in communications, digital content, or web content strategy.
Experience writing for public-facing audiences and simplifying complex information.
Ability to conduct content audits and synthesize information from multiple documents.
Familiarity with branding guidelines and consistent messaging practices.
Comfort reviewing (not necessarily designing) materials created in common software (Microsoft Suite; familiarity with Canva/Adobe is helpful but not required).
Ability to work independently as a consultant with flexible weekly availability.
Security clearance: Enhanced clearance is an asset but not required.
Language: English required; materials will go through formal translation as needed.
Approx. 35 hours total, spread flexibly over several weeks (about 1 day per week).
Start: As soon as possible.
Completion: Preferred well before end of fiscal year (March).
Location: Remote—open to candidates anywhere in Canada.
Equipment: Must be compatible with Microsoft/PC environment
