Physical Network Strategy & Analytics, under the broader Channel Performance team, specializes in maintaining and optimizing the Scotiabank’s physical assets (Branch and ABM) across Canada to better suit our client’s ever-changing needs and evolving markets. As a data-driven team, we strive to support our business decisions with industry leading third-party demographic and segmentation data in conjunction with our organization’s rich first-party data.

 

The Business Analyst contributes to the overall success of the Bank’s retail branch network by creating robust strategies powered by analytical modelling and business intelligence initiatives. Support the gathering of necessary data; both internal and external and the development of optimization and opportunity models required for setting regional and national strategies.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Gather business and data requirements to clearly outline business problems, opportunities and solutions
  • Follow analytical frameworks; hypothesis development, collecting, preparing, and combining the data from multiple sources, analyzing data, validation, drawing conclusions, assessing risks and developing actionable recommendations for the organization
  • Leverage SQL, Python and data visualization software (Power BI) to develop analytical models that support strategic initiatives and improve business processes for the team
  • Create insightful dashboards and reports with well thought out visualizations that summarize the decisions and actions which need to be taken. To be utilized by branch and district managers across the country to improve branch performance
  • Build tools and analysis to evaluate national and local markets, client and competitor landscapes, and retail banking trends. Perform benchmark analysis against the 5-year strategy along with recommendations for improvements in optimization models, forecasting and opportunity analysis
  • Perform analysis that identifies opportunities to optimize the Bank’s current physical footprint and staffing as well as developing opportunity models for future placement of branch service and sales staff
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of the national hours strategy, and model how branch hours should be structured to have competitive offerings against our peers
  • Build and present strong data driven business cases to drive strategies for Scotiabank’s branch retail network

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Expertise to clearly identify and articulate key insights and recommendations
  • Ability working in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams 
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Microsoft Excel)
  • Strong knowledge of GIS tools such as: ArcGIS, MapInfo Pro, QGIS
  • Experience with data visualization software such as: Power BI, Tableau
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, considered a plus
