Reporting to the Medical Lab Technology (MLT) Quality and Operations Manager, you will:
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
The minimum educational qualification for this position is a relevant post-secondary diploma or certification in Medical Lab Assistant (or equivalent), be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Medical Lab Technology (NSCMLT) or can register upon hire, and certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Lab Science (CSMLS).
In addition, you possess training in WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and Occupational Health and Safety regulations as well as Standard First Aid, CPR and discipline relevant safety training, or you have a willingness to obtain within the first year.
You have a minimum of three (3) years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience as a Medical Lab Assistant in a range of clinical lab departments.
Occupational experience that includes experience in all five main lab disciplines (microbiology, histology, transfusion medicine, chemistry, hematology), and specimen collection and handling would be considered an asset.
You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and e-mail. Experience with Lab Information Systems (LIS) would be considered an asset.
You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.

You have proven records and information management skills and abilities specifically related to lab procedures including document management and lab information systems (LIS).
You have a proven ability to multi-task and complete tasks within a defined timeframe independently with minimal supervision.
You demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail.
