Sustainability Specialist (6–8 Month Contract)

Location: Brampton, ON (Hybrid – 4 days onsite per week)
Salary: up to $65,000 per annum (pro-rated for contract term)

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and highly organized Sustainability Specialist to join our client’s Sustainability and Social Impact team on a 6–8 month contract. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and wants to make a tangible difference through community investment, employee engagement, and corporate responsibility initiatives.

Reporting to the Manager, Sustainability and Community Investment, the Specialist will play a key role in coordinating community programs, managing charitable partnerships, and supporting enterprise-wide fundraising and volunteering campaigns. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful social impact initiatives that positively affect colleagues, customers, and communities across Canada.


Key Responsibilities

  • Program Coordination: Support the delivery of national community investment and sustainability initiatives, including signature donation programs and enterprise fundraising campaigns.

  • Partnership Management: Work closely with charitable partners and internal business units to plan, execute, and evaluate partnership activities and community investment projects.

  • Campaign Execution: Coordinate in-store and online fundraising campaigns from start to finish, ensuring clear communication, stakeholder engagement, and smooth execution.

  • Volunteer Engagement: Lead and promote employee volunteering initiatives, including management of the company’s Volunteer Grant Program and ambassador network.

  • Communications Support: Collaborate on internal and external marketing and communication plans to raise awareness of sustainability and community programs.

  • Reporting & Administration: Contribute to monthly and annual reporting (including ESG metrics), track budgets, process invoices, and maintain accurate records of donations and grants.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a subject matter expert on corporate responsibility topics, engaging employees across departments to align business operations with community investment goals.


About You

  • Experience: 2+ years in sustainability, corporate social responsibility, community investment, or the non-profit/charitable sector.

  • Fundraising Expertise: Proven success coordinating fundraising or donation campaigns, ideally within a corporate or retail environment.

  • Project Management: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

  • Relationship Builder: Skilled at building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.

  • Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Able to interpret reports, track program outcomes, and ensure accuracy in data and budgeting.

  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to inspire engagement and collaboration.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
