BMO Cloud Engineering is looking for a senior director who can plan, design, build and integrate cloud infrastructure solutions and capabilities with application requirements for rapid deployment using IaC. We offer cloud native compute, storage, data, and AI capabilities to our BMO business partners. If you are a collaborative, consultative individual ready to build relationships inside and outside of the Cloud Engineering team to gain strong alignment and help developers move quickly through the SDLC to support our customers, this could be the role for you!

Responsibilities:

Working as a leader of virtual teams in a close-knit technical team;

  • The person will dive in and engage with technology and business partners in the cloud compute, data, and AI space to define and enable opportunities to build virtual teams to deliver on solutions to solve technology problems and enable development teams to adopt and maintain cloud services at scale.

  • The person is tasked to oversee outcomes and standardize engagements where cloud solutions are required to automate workload deployments and maintenance in BMO's public cloud platforms. 

  • The team is a product owner with responsibility for product enhancement and life cycle management of several enterprise tools including BMO’s Cloud Platform, Ansible Tower, and other supporting systems.   

  • Manage and give guidance to CIO teams on the development of highly scalable, flexible and resilient cloud capability and solutions

  • Enhance the capacity of the Cloud Consulting and Solutins function through new hiring, coaching, training, and hands-on-leadership while maintaining and fostering BMO values

  • Oversees the day-to-day work that includes CIO engagement, internal Statement of Work creation, outcome tracking against commitments, solution deployment, enhancement, and dev team guidance

  • Develop service catalog of solutions that should be scaled to Enterprise capabilities, work with Cloud Services product owner to enhance products to support new Enterprise functionality

  • Provide solution documentation and collaborate across technology and CIO organization to promote CI/CD driven infrastructure as Code capability

  • Develop long- and short-term work plans for the Cloud Engineering teams to meet the goals set in solution SoWs agreed upon with CIO teams

  • Provide consistent collaborative leadership with senior executives to help drive goals and objectives that will improve operational efficiencies and Cloud Services supported products

  • Drive adherence to Agile methodologies including playing a role of scrum lead

Required Core Skills:

  • At least six 6 years of experience in a technical role in a large enterprise environment

  • Experience leading development, engineering, and technology teams

  • Solid knowledge of Public Cloud Platforms, Cloud Services, and Cloud Development

  • Strong technical leadership skills, including coaching, team-building, and conflict resolution

  • Strong understanding of Cloud Native Architecture and principles and Infrastructure as code

  • Experience with implementing CI/CD Systems and DevOps methodologies

  • Knowledge and understanding of enterprise change management process and technology governance

  • Advanced communication skills catered to a wide variety of audiences. (e.g. written, verbal, presentation)

  • A critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and advanced multi-tasking and prioritization skills

  • Ability to engage, lead and drive vendors working closely with our Vendor Management function

  • Organizational and strategic management skills, including budget and business planning and forecasting

  • Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting with senior management and executive roles for internal and external partners

  • Extensive business acumen, technical knowledge, and industry experience encompassing one or more cloud engineering, technology, and product domains

  • A strong team player, self-motivated and a positive attitude.

Salary:
$121,600.00 - $211,800.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
