As the Director, Technology Resilience Governance, Contributes to the overall success of the Resilience Engineering globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Responsible for authoring and maintaining technology availability and resiliency standards.
• Work closely with global system reliability team members, champion the definition and implementation of resiliency policy and standards.
• Keep up to date on current technology resilience best practices, analysis of regulatory requirements at a global scale across our Bank’s footprint., including Canada, United States of America (USA), and the European Union (EU).
• Develop and update technology resilience governance artifacts as required, including policies, standards, guidelines, procedures and frameworks, among others.
• Identify any applicable technology resilience gaps across the bank.
• Facilitate discussions with different stakeholder groups geared to address identified gaps and obtain necessary executive signoff.
• Support related audit engagements.
• Raise awareness and lead training across Scotiabank on the use and application of the technology resilience governance artifacts.
• Coordinate the implementation of technology resilience governance artifacts across various legal entities.
• Design metrics to track adoption status of technology resilience artifacts across the bank
• Design and rollout management reports to provide necessary oversight of adoption status of technology resilience artifacts across the bank.
• Work with Operational Resilience (Enterprise and UK), Information Security teams, Enterprise Architecture, IT Risk, developers, and other technology stakeholders to regularly review and update related governance artifacts.
• Mentors and coaches others and transfers subject matter expertise where appropriate.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

• Strong leadership, communication and strategic influencing capability, supported by well-developed analytical and strategic thinking competencies.
• Well developed technology foundational knowledge across multiple disciplines.
• Strong analytic competency with a bias towards identifying / challenging technology governance issues for increased resilience.
• Ability to clearly articulate and communicate problems with solutions when identified.
• Collaborative trusted partner for Operational Resilience, Information Security teams, Enterprise Architecture, IT Risk and application development teams.
• Ability to maintain calm during stressful situations.
• Ability to work with teams across Scotiabank locations.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Strong track record on technology resilience programs with exposure to cyber security, system stability, capacity, disaster recovery, third party management.
• Demonstrated 5+ years of experience in various technology environments.
• Experience in policy development, standards, procedures and guidelines.
• Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, a plus).
