Salary: From 69,000 to 129,000 per Year
 

Our client in the insurance space is seeking a motivated and experienced Account Manager to join their Group Distribution team. This role requires two days a month in office, either at the Toronto or Burlington location, and offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills while making a meaningful and direct impact on the business unit you support. The role is technical in nature, focusing on group renewals with a modest sales component aimed at maintaining and growing the block. The successful candidate will have deep industry knowledge, strong relationship-building skills, and existing connections within the Ontario market.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, build, and develop new and existing relationships with Distribution Partners; manage mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Provide detailed product information to Distribution Partners, helping them understand product value and customer fit.
  • Build and leverage internal relationships within the organizations to better service Distribution Partners and delegate service issues.
  • Represent their brand through regular, professional interaction with partners.
  • Execute quote strategies and provide guidelines to internal teams, including monthly investment directions for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on pricing strategy applications and support business case development to assist sales decisions.
  • Work within renewal parameters, ensuring business renewals meet guidelines and persistency levels.
  • Act as escalation point for resolution of quote, issue, and renewal challenges.
  • Manage pricing and acquisition for assigned business blocks, reviewing profitability monthly.
  • Identify and develop high-potential accounts for transition to sales team members aligned with regional sales plans.
  • Ensure timely updates and maintenance of sales automation tools.
  • Small sales targets with credit for bringing in new business.

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a university degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in the insurance or financial services industry, specifically in group benefits with a strong understanding of Distribution Partner needs.
  • In-depth knowledge of underwriting principles, technical pricing, and group insurance products/policies.
  • Strong understanding of group benefits and employment legislation related to employee benefits.
  • Strong understanding of how renewals are structured and the rationale behind decision-making.
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet, and database software.
  • Knowledge of competitors’ group insurance products and sales activities.
  • GBA designation preferred.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, persuasion, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Logical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and ability to handle a high volume of work.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with brokers, sales, underwriting, and service teams.
  • Existing relationships and deep knowledge of the Ontario market preferred.
