The Corporate Functions Finance team oversees planning, forecasting and analysis of the operating expenses for HR, Strategy & Operations, Finance, Legal, Corporate Governance & Security, and Audit.  The Senior Analyst will primarily support the HR and Strategy & Operations team but will work closely with each member of the team to produce annual budgets and business line allocations, provide financial analysis and control as well as management reporting.

 

Is this role right for you?  In this role, you will:

 

  • Work closely with all team members to deliver the annual budget for Human Resources and Finance.
  • Liaise with budget contacts to gather information supporting the budget submissions, including compiling, researching and consolidating statistical information for use in the analysis of budget submissions and responding to requests for supporting details.
  • Provide assistance with budgeting and analysis, highlight discussion points for use during meetings with department/function heads and follow up on action items to ensure they are reflected in the budget summaries and packages.
  • Validate information sources, develop and maintain controls to improve data integrity and completeness, and create templates/processes to automate and simplify tasks.
  • Provide suggestions for enhancing/optimizing use of the Hyperion Tier 4 planning module.
  • Produce ad-hoc reports to support the consolidation and analysis of overall Corporate Functions budgets.
  • Work closely with team members and Corporate Functions partners to develop/refine/maintain business line allocation methodologies
  • Provide analysis on impact of any changes and communicate the changes to the business lines.
  • Work closely with all team members to complete the monthly/quarterly reporting processes, including:
    • Compile monthly staffing reports including variance analysis.
    • Prepare quarterly staffing variance analysis; identify the impact of transfers and initiatives.
    • Support monthly/quarterly expense dashboard, reasonability, variance analysis and commentary.
    • Contribute to the delivery of the post-quarter forecast and pre-quarter update including business line allocations.
    • Prepare monthly management reports for the Corporate Functions.
    • Ad hoc reporting for Finance and Corporate Functions
  • Create journal entries and accruals for select departments and projects.
  • Develop and sustain strong working relationships with key contacts, business partners and stakeholders (Corporate Functions, other Finance teams and the Technology support team) to deliver on mandate and provide value-added analysis and insight.
  • Subject matter expert partnering with Corporate Functions to provide analysis and support to enable them to make informed decisions pertaining to the impact of budget planning, forecasting and potential cost reduction activities, as well as the ongoing financial management of their business’ operations.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:

 

  • University degree in Accounting or Finance or similar discipline
  • Successfully completed, or working towards, a CPA or equivalent designation an asset
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the perspective of continually seeking opportunities for improvement
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, including ability to create / manage large financial models, pivot tables.
  • Experience with EGL, OBI, Hyperion, SmartView, Power BI and Alteryx is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment with peers and superiors across organizational lines.  
  • Ability to sustain a broad-based knowledge of the Bank's and Corporate Functions’ strategy, operations, policies and procedures.
