Purpose


The Director of Investment Distribution Management is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing strategies to distribute investment products across intermediary channels. This role bridges investment management with client engagement, ensuring that the firm’s offerings are effectively positioned and delivered to target markets.


What you will be doing:

 

Strategic Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Investment Distribution Management team, ensuring alignment with Scotia Global Asset Management’s vision, values, and business objectives.
  • Develop and lead the firm’s distribution strategy across multiple channels, collaborating with product, marketing, and investment teams.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to inform strategic decisions.
  • Develop an overall plan for product coverage across the team resources and ensure consistency of message across all channels.
  • Lead the Investment Distribution Management team and act as the main point of contact to clients on any investment distribution-related queries thus needing in-depth knowledge of financial markets, investment products and capabilities.
  • Play a leading role in the development of materials for Distributors, including presentations, Market and Product commentaries, white paper and other documents as required.
  • Liaise with Dealer Relationship Managers (domestically) and International Wealth Management with respect to the ongoing maintenance of existing investment dealers, including the organization of presentations to investment committees and boards as required.


Sales Enablement & Relationship Management

  • Collaborate with key partners in Retail Distribution to oversee relationship management with key clients, consultants, and distribution partners.
  • Support SGAM sales teams with product training, investment insights, and tailored messaging.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.


Product Positioning & Development

  • Work closely with investment teams to understand product features, performance, and differentiators.
  • Provide input into product development based on client feedback and market demand.
  • Ensure investment products are appropriately packaged and communicated for each distribution channel.
  • In collaboration with Sales, Marketing and Product, development of clear and concise selling points and marketing messages for all mandates based on their underlying value proposition; drive the development of thought leadership driven off Investment teams’ philosophy and crossing all asset classes
  • Influence the development of new investment mandates and contribute to the creation of a strong brand positioning for Investment teams across all asset classes and geographical regions.


Performance & Reporting

  • Track and analyze distribution performance metrics, including sales volumes, client engagement, Product communication effectiveness, and channel effectiveness.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for executive leadership and board-level stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies.

 


Do you have the skills to enable you to be successful in this role? We would love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field; MBA or CFA designation preferred.
  • 10 plus years of experience working in the asset management industry; clear history of work experience in the investment management industry;
  • Detailed knowledge of financial markets and investment process / strategy and positioning;
  • Excellent and well-developed communication skills through written and verbal forums to communicate with a strength in dealing with a wide variety of individuals at various levels within and outside the organization including peers, sales teams, advisors and unitholders;
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, global environment and to adapt quickly to changing priorities;
  • Analytic and strategic thinker with the ability to assess complex situations and make effective recommendations;
  • Excellent organizational skills and capability to effectively manage priorities while meeting timelines;
  • Proactive self-starter who can handle pressure effectively and has experience working with senior management teams;
  • Team-oriented; demonstrates a commitment to shared success above any personal accomplishment or recognition
