Purpose 

 

The Senior Manager, Communications will lead the development and execution of strategic communications that support the internal transformation of Global Wealth Management (GWM), and support of the teams within GWM, including horizontal all team support. This role is responsible for crafting compelling narratives, managing executive communications, and enhancing engagement across internal stakeholders. The incumbent will work closely with senior leaders across Global Wealth Management, and support initiatives across Global Wealth Transformation & Growth Strategy. 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

 

  • Lead communications for SVP of Global Wealth Transformation and Growth Strategy  

      • Develops ideas, content and distribution for blog posts and LinkedIn profile 

  • Support business and communications teams to produce employee events to deliver strategic messaging and enhance employee engagement:  

      • Assists in the idea generation, development and execution of a strategic communications relevant to the interests of a diverse internal audience 

    • Supports development and execution of events to foster a sense of engagement 

    • Writing, reviewing and editing necessary communications, including: presentation decks, speaker notes, briefing docs, follow-up material, etc.; and 

    • Assist in communications material to support GWM, enterprise-wide and team communications  

    • Support senior leadership for their speaking opportunities including: announcements, online content, videos, Town Hall appearances, blogs, newsletters  

  • Oversee GWM SharePoint sites and ensure timely, relevant updates: 

      • Create an engagement strategy to drive traffic to GWM Sharepoint 

    • Develop new content across all businesses within GWM 

    • Demonstrate collaboration across business lines and platform 

    • Maintain momentum and fresh content on a regular basis 

  • Support with issues and change management as needed, specifically, internal stakeholdering, and the development of key messaging as appropriate to liaise with the broader team 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align messaging and ensure consistency across channels. 

  • Understand how the Bank’s culture of inclusion, high performance and customer focus should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. 

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, Bachelor of Arts or equivalent
  • 5-7+ years experience in Corporate Communications, Financial Communications and/or Public Relations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and drive audience engagement
  • Knowledge and experience communicating effectively via a number of mediums, including print, web, scripting, social, etc.
  • Experience in the Asset Management industry
  • Strong project management skills
  • Good interpersonal, collaboration and relationship management skills

 

Working Conditions

 

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
