Purpose
As a member of the Global Corporate Affairs team, the Senior Manager, Communications, develops and implements communications plans for the EVP and Chief Global Operations Officer for Scotiabank and key enterprise Global Operations initiatives, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will be involved in:
• Leads the end-to-end process which includes the development, execution and distribution of internal and external communications plans, writing and editing of key communications pieces for the EVP and Chief Global Operations Officer and for Global Operations, providing strategic communications advice to business leaders.
• Supports with thought leadership opportunities for the EVP and Chief Global Operations Officer both internally and externally.
• Ideates, produces and manages enterprise-wide communications pieces, including announcements, press releases, online content, videos, Town Halls, Global Operations events, and presentations.
o This includes working with internal business partners to develop these communications as needed and coordinating and executing the delivery of communications to target audiences (internal and external).
• Ensuring strategic alignment across our global communications channels and calendars.
• Oversees the development and execution of key Global Operations communications, including newsletters, supports with issues management and the development of key messaging for internal and external purposes.
• Understands how the Bank’s culture of inclusion, results-driven and client primacy focus should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Champions a high performing environment that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team.

• The incumbent is required to keep current on communication trends and best practices and will be a self-starter who proactively identifies communications opportunities.
• The incumbent requires a combination of focus and flexibility and can work independently and take direction well.
• Minimum of eight (8) years working experience in a corporate communications or related industry.
• Communications experience in a complex, dynamic, knowledge-based environment.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, with an ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with meticulous attention to detail and ability to balance multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• A high degree of comfort briefing, supporting, and engaging with senior decision-makers or C-suite executives.
• The incumbent must be diplomatic, flexible, with a positive, mature attitude, and the ability to remain calm under pressure and to deliver under tight timelines.
• Must also be proactive and creative, with strong, proven ability to plan and manage competing priorities, as well as ability to recognize and appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
• Minimum undergraduate university degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Business, Marketing, or a related field. A post-graduate certificate in Public Relations is an asset.
• Superior verbal and written English communication skills including demonstrable creativity, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
• Proven ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
