Purpose
Working under the direction of Director, PMO, and in full collaboration with partners across the Bank, the incumbent is responsible for end-to-end project management for various projects within Private Banking. Responsibilities for each project require defining & managing the project scope, detailing & managing the project plan, defining & managing deadlines, engaging & managing required resources for each project, overseeing business related tasks, building relationships internally within the bank and externally to achieve project goals. Responsibilities include managing and prioritizing between multiple projects at any point and time.  

 


What you will be doing:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Develop, manage and execute approved project plans for the Private Banking team. This includes managing time, resources and priorities across multiple projects and/or initiatives, establishing an appropriate level of communication on the status of each project to stakeholders and other affected areas of the bank, and establishing an appropriate path for escalation of issues for each project.
  • Lead the planning of various initiatives for approved projects.  Facilitate planning sessions, identify and secure resources, and identify risks to project timelines, cost or scopes and establish appropriate mitigation strategies. The planning process will include the ability to lead the development and presentation of business cases to justify project investments.
  • Manage each project through to implementation and/or production to ensure business needs continue to be met when transitioning an initiative from project phase to production.
  • Establish and foster the development of strategic relationships with key business partners within the bank as well as with critical partners outside of the bank – software vendors, legal and regulatory authorities, industry resources, etc.
  • Continually acquire and enhance knowledge of project methodologies, and acquire knowledge of Private Banking strategies and policies, risk management practices, product offerings, regulatory requirements and general business practices as required for specific projects.
  • Ensure all important documents are kept for audit purposes.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills to enable you to be successful in this role? We would love to work with you if you have:

  • Thorough knowledge of standard project methodologies and experience leading projects with multiple resources in a cross-functional, matrixed environment
  • At least 5-8 years of experience managing projects within the financial industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, leadership skills and relationship building skills are critical to successfully manage project resources / business
  • partners from all levels within the bank and those external to the bank.
  • Superior organizational skills are essential to manage internal resources, external resources, deadlines, deliveries and project specific issues across multiple projects to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office applications, particularly: PowerPoint and Excel as well experience with project management software
  • Strong initiative, forward thinking and creative problem solving skills focused on delivering results are required to support the implementation and service development initiatives as a part of the global strategy and structure.
  • Strong team orientation and teamwork skills required.
  • Ability to run projects independently, managing timelines, tasks and overall deliverables
