Purpose

The position is responsible for providing in-force policy support to licensed advisors, Branch Managers, and Insurance Consultants within the Greater Toronto region.

Accountabilities

  • Acts as the main point of contact for licensed advisors in the region who have questions and require support related to their in-force policy management activities. This includes delivering training to advisors on accessing policy details within Centralize and best practices for servicing activities; reviewing statements and notices as they are distributed to the Agent of Record; and flagging any policies that require attention; undertaking policy analysis; requesting in-force illustrations; and providing any necessary paperwork to advisors.

  • Proactively reviews a subset of in-force permanent life insurance policies at key milestones in order to identify any potential issues that might lead to future client concerns related to the performance of their policy. This may include collaborating with advisors and SWIS colleagues in determining the best approach to address issues and mitigate any risks.

  • Takes on Agent of Record for all orphaned policies within the region, which includes being the primary contact for those clients in managing their policies. This may also include doing the same on select policies that have been referred directly to SWIS by an unlicensed advisor or business partner.

  • Triages any requests for licensed advisors to take over as Agent of Record on policies that were sold by external agents, collaborating with SWIS colleagues to ensure that any new AORs will not increase our risk exposure and are onboarded effectively. This includes ensuring that advisors are aware of the AOR policy and any requirements for considering requests.

  • Identifies opportunities to introduce an Insurance Consultant into an in-force policy where there may be new business potential, such as a conversions, re-applications, or secondary sales. This includes proactively reviewing their in-force block of business for such opportunities and working closely with the ICs in their region to develop a process for partnering effectively.

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
