Leads and oversees Finance Platform Engineering for Global Finance Technology in Canada and globally ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

 

In this role you will: 

 

 

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Plays the lead role in ensuring operational readiness, in a production environment within the Service Delivery platforms that he/she leads.
  • Direct a team of technical experts when addressing a production platform problem where time is usually of the essence (i.e. services must be as soon as possible).
  • Proactively address issues for emerging gaps – engage/lead cross functional teams to address systemic or persistent platform issues in day-to-day operations (i.e.: organic growth).
  • Develops and build sponsorship for necessary service improvements and accountability to drive enhanced and system availability year over year.
  • Champion, monitor and drive awareness and adoption of Finance Platform management and data management practices across Global Finance to ensure alignment with the Bank’s standards
  • Promote data culture in Finance teams globally and share best data practices with Finance community.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? 
 

  • University degree or equivalent experience
  • Eight to ten years of Information Technology management experience in high volume, complex, demanding customer-oriented IT environment.
  • IT project management experience with ability to manage projects to scope, schedule and budget an asset
  • Keep current with rapidly changing technological trends and provide recommendations on the future technological directions and architecture of the Division.
  • High level of autonomy is required, with the incumbent required to exercise judgment to balance the necessity of timely responses to pressing issues and opportunities with the requirement to bridge the interests of various stakeholders.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills in order to deliver proposals, provide consultation to development staff and interact with diverse user groups from clerical to senior management level.
  • Must have expertise in following and/or similar tools Peoplesoft, Oracle Financial Suite, IBM WatsonX, Microsoft Purview, Collibra
  • Operate independently day-to-day requiring to conduct considerable research and apply a high level of insight for development
