At Scotia Global Asset Management, there is a strategic vision to transform our firm into a truly global investment manager and allocator of capital. Critical to delivering this vision is the implementation of a Common Investment Platform – a common technology stack with the ability to leverage common processes and workflows globally.

In this role, you will be responsible for the continuous development and evolution of Charles River, our primary portfolio management tool and order management system (OMS). You will be responsible for Charles River development that is required to onboard newly acquired business lines, and to allow for the evolution of our Common Investment Platform. This includes enhancements to allow for the introduction of new product types, automated trading workflows, and streamlined operational workflows. 

 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

 

  • Configure and maintain Charles River to support investment/trading workflows and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate portfolio managers, traders, compliance, and operations teams to understand and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Support ongoing enhancements, upgrades, and integration efforts.
  • Interact with Business Analysts and Product Owners for requirement gathering, analysis, and providing technical support during project backlog and sprint backlog calls.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to system functionality, data flows, and user experience.
  • Work in close collaboration with the entire Project and BAU Support teams to ensure on-time deliverables and project milestones.
  • Identify and implement internal process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce time expenses.
  • Participate in engagement with key partners and stakeholders to understand investment data and reporting requirements and participate in design, planning, testing, and solutions delivery.
  • Document configuration changes and maintain technical specifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree, with a technology, computer science, or business focus, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Charles River, particularly in configuration and development.
  • Proficiency with SQL and data integration concepts.
  • Knowledge of FIX protocol and integration with trading platforms.
  • Experience working in an asset management or financial services environment.
  • Knowledge of front-to-back investment lifecycle and data management.
  • Proficiency with agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with integration technologies (APIs, ETL tools)
  • Ability to develop positive and collaborative relationships with business partners and effectively communicate with both business and technology data stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
