Engineering Delivery Manager

Ottawa, Ontario -Canada- Hybrid

Position Summary

The Engineering Delivery Manager (EDM) is responsible for estimating, managing and directly overseeing the technical execution of a work package, he/she delivers within the approved budget and schedule. Additionally, the EDM works closely with the Project Design Authority (PDA) and the Project Manager (PM) in order to execute effectively.

Key Areas of Responsibility  

  • Contribute to Bids/Estimates for projects and changes

  • Responsible for the technical program deliverables

  • Define the Engineering team’s WBS and OBS, the engineering lifecycle, the schedule of work and the Engineering Management Plan (includes Software Development Plan)

  • Direct and lead the team to achieve the project stage reviews and milestones to cost, schedule and acceptable quality

  • Provide strong technical leadership to ensure the solution is matured such that it will satisfy the requirements and achieve customer acceptance, accreditation and certification

  • Manage project and technical risk and opportunity

  • Implement an objective and predictive monitoring regime to enable early identification of issues and risks, and definition of recovery actions to ensure on time acceptable delivery is achieved

  • Ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe manner in line with Legal and Company requirements

  • Support interviews for new candidates and be the manager for the project team

  • Work collaboratively with the wider project team, alliance partner, customer/end-user, functions, suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure the Project Team successfully delivers against commitments to the internal and external customers

  • Work with the EDM team to deploy best practices and tools tailored for Work Package Management

Minimum Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or Technical Degree/Diploma

  • 9+ Year of technical engineering experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in Technical Management (as a leader of people or programs/ projects)

  • Prior experience Estimating and Quoting Technical Work

  • Experience with Resource Loading

  • Experience Managing Project Risks

  • Experience Planning, Delegating and Controlling Technical Work

  • Experience in Configuration and Data Management as well as Change Management

  • Experience Closing Projects

Ideal candidate will posses an MBA , PMP and/or be a Professional Engineer.

The reference Total Target Compensation(TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between

Total Target Cash (TTC) 125,483.65 - 196,174.56 CAD Annual
