We are assisting our education sector client with the search for a Senior Developer & Team Lead to provide both technical leadership and hands-on development while managing a small team. This role focuses on delivering secure, scalable, and accessible digital solutions for web portals, case management systems, databases, and integrations (Drupal, MERN stack, Dynamics 365, Power Automate). You will collaborate with internal teams, central IT, and vendors, set coding standards, lead Agile projects, mentor team members, and contribute to IT strategy.

This position is weighted at approx. 30% technical responsibilities and 70% leadership, leading a team of 3.

Location: Downtown Toronto (Hybrid policy 3-4 days per week)
Salary: $100,000 - 112,000 per year, exceptional benefits and perks

Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team (BA/QA, Full Stack Developer, Content Coordinator)
• Review code, define standards, and provide hands-on technical support
• Oversee the development, maintenance, and enhancement of websites, databases, case management systems, and digital assets.
• Provide technical leadership in full-stack development using technologies such as MERN, Symfony, Drupal, Dynamics 365, and Power Automate.
• Execute IT strategy in partnership with leadership
• Manage systems, integrations, and web portals
• Lead Agile-based projects ensuring secure, scalable, and accessible solutions
• Collaborate with stakeholders and vendors to enhance user experience

Key Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of IT leadership experience
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with the MERN stack
• Proven track record in managing software development projects within Agile environments
• Strong background in database design, DevOps, and digital transformation initiatives
• Governance or higher-education IT experience is a plus
