Our public-sector client is seeking an experienced Data Architect for a 4-month contract with a strong potential to extend. The successful candidate will lead the design and implementation of a modern, cloud-based data architecture to replace legacy systems and support real-time analytics. This position is hybrid, with approximately one day per week onsite at the client’s head office in the Lower Mainland.
Roles and Responsibilities
Design and implement a cloud-based operational data platform to replace legacy systems.
Lead data migration efforts from on-premise or outdated databases into modern cloud environments.
Develop data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) and ensure they align with governance and compliance standards.
Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration processes using modern cloud tools.
Collaborate with business and technical teams to align architecture with reporting and analytics needs.
Ensure data security, scalability, and quality through best practices and documentation.
Qualifications and Skills
10+ years of experience in Data or Cloud Architecture roles.
Strong experience with data warehousing, ETL/ELT development, and data modeling.
Hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP (Azure preferred).
Experience modernizing legacy data systems into cloud or hybrid environments.
Familiarity with data governance, MDM, and metadata management frameworks.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
