The Team
The Global Risk and Treasury Technology team provides development and support services for Group Treasury (including Structural Interest Rate Risk management, Asset/Liability Management, Funds Transfer Pricing, Liquidity Risk, Stress Testing) and Global Risk Management (Global Retail/Corporate/Commercial Credit Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk, Operational/Non-Operational Risk Management).
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, High Performance Computing (HPC), and SQL Server, along with experience integrating vendor solutions in Azure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation using shell scripts and Python, and prior exposure to QRM (Quantitative Risk Management) or similar financial risk platforms. Experience working in a major Canadian financial institution is highly preferred. You will be required to participate in multiple projects, including technical design, use cases, and process workflow of complex business processes for internal clients. You must possess the ability to work with a team of technology focused peers and the ability to juggle multiple/concurrent tasks. You must thrive on challenge, be proactive, dynamic and demonstrate initiative and eagerness to learn.
Some of the key accountabilities include:
Design, deploy, and manage Windows-based infrastructure, including HPC clusters, SQL Server environments, and enterprise-grade compute platforms.
Lead integration of vendor-hosted solutions in Microsoft Azure, ensuring secure and scalable connectivity with on-premises systems.
Collaborate with vendor and internal teams to define infrastructure requirements, deployment strategies, and operational support models.
Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, and Python to streamline provisioning, patching, and monitoring.
Support and optimize SQL Server performance, availability, and disaster recovery configurations.
Ensure seamless integration between on-premises infrastructure and cloud-based services, including networking, identity, and data flows.
Provide technical leadership in platform reliability, performance tuning, and incident resolution.
Document infrastructure designs, operational procedures, and automation workflows.
Work closely with risk and treasury teams to support platforms such as QRM, ensuring compliance with financial and regulatory standards.
Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in engineering, DevOps, and CI/CD.
What You Will Bring to Succeed Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in platform or infrastructure engineering roles, with a strong focus on Microsoft technologies.
Hands-on experience with Windows Server, HPC environments, and SQL Server in enterprise settings.
Proven experience integrating vendor solutions in Azure, including IaaS deployments and hybrid connectivity.
Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, and Python.
Experience working in a major Canadian bank or financial institution, with understanding of financial systems and operational controls.
Familiarity with QRM or similar financial risk management platforms.
Solid understanding of networking, identity management (Active Directory, Azure AD), and security best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Microsoft certifications such as Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator Associate, or SQL Server certifications.
Experience with Azure Arc, Azure Monitor, and hybrid cloud management tools.
Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., OSFI, SOC 2, ISO 27001).
