Position Summary

Thales requires a Warehouse Operator who will be primarily responsible for the timely and efficient flow of materials through the warehouse and in the dockyard to support ship maintenance activity. Manual and automated functions include but will not be limited to the processing of receipts, shipping requirements, inventory control related tasks and material routing functions to/from the dockyard for maintenance work.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the effective and timely execution of logistic activities.  This function shall strive to provide an uninterrupted flow of goods and/or services required by the organization..Receiving - verify & inspect incoming material & documentation, process receipts, track shipments..Shipping - prepare domestic, US & international outgoing freight IAW packaging specifications; complete documentation and labelling, comply with customs & export requirements.
  • Process requisitions, issue, pick, package & move material; distribute parts for customer delivery. Locate and store inventory in designated & approved storage areas IAW hazardous goods and other applicable statutory regulations.
  • Inventory control functions including cycle counting, stocktaking tasks & investigation.  Monitor stocking levels & shelf life inventory, review and recommend adjustments. Accurate and timely data entry into the Inventory Management System to update material activity and status.
  • Coordinate and record movement of Material Assets,  including but not limited to:
    • Action and schedule shipping requirements with couriers and freight forwarders; track freight, resolve frustrated cargo situations and identify areas of improvement in distribution;
    • Oversee material returns identifying routing requirements; process, track and report on status as required;
    • Direct component repair and overhaul (R&O) activity, monitor repair lines and schedule, track and report on status, expedite availability from repair to maintain stocking levels;
    • Repairable equipment and special tools/test equipment;
    • Maintain equipment calibration program liaising with relevant stakeholders, track and report on status;
  • Participate in and contribute to continuous improvement initiates, attend meetings. Prepare and generate warehouse reports, maintain registers, record keeping. Operate delivery vehicles, forklifts and other material handling equipment (MHE); load/unload transport vehicles & containers.
  • Provide support in the implementation of improved SAP functionality to improve logistic efficiencies. Becomes knowledgeable about company policies/procedures and continually monitors day-to-day activities for compliance.  Also recommends changes as appropriate to management on policies and/or procedures to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.  Supports activities to ensure compliance with ISO series quality accreditation and Defense regulatory requirements. Maintain an ethical approach to tasks and relationships in accordance with relevant Thales policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience performing similar activities within a logistic environment.
  • Proven warehouse & logistics experience in a fast paced environment.
  • Previous experience using SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Familiarization with Occupational Health, Safety & Environment policies & procedures.

Special Position Requirements

  • Physical: Role will require working on site from the office. This role will be physically demanding with the requirement to lift up to 22kg/50lbs and walk or stand for the majority of the working shift.
  • Schedule: 40 working hours per week Monday- Friday.
  • Valid forklift license and/or operator experience.
  • Valid & current Provincial driver’s license.
