Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT

Department: Surgery and Anesthesia

Location: Scarborough, ON (GTA)

Toronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital (TVEH) is a large 24-hour emergency and referral hospital located in Scarborough, ON, and we are welcoming a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT to join our Anesthesia and Surgery Team. While our network is large, we still offer that local community feeling, mentorship, and additional training!

  • Work with their assigned Surgeon on appointments & surgical procedures

  • Excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude and the ability to put pets and pet parents at ease

  • Keep accurate medical records, answering messages and client communications

  • Prepare medications, estimates, and billing

  • Assist and perform anesthesia for patients across multiple services within the hospital

  • Technical skills: physical examinations, patient assessment, venipuncture, catheter placement, peripheral nerve blocks, epidurals, arterial catheters and orthopedic radiographs.

  • Review patient history, prepare flow sheets, and anesthetic protocols

  • Coordinate with other departments as needed

  • Obtain and prepare lab samples

  • Patient management & care

  • Willingness to learn and take on additional duties as needed
