About the Role

The position reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for delivering projects independently, in collaboration with a team of mechanical engineers, designers, and drafters. The role involves technical design, client interaction, managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring compliance with deliverables, meeting deadlines, and working within project budgets. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with clients, stakeholders, and senior staff to execute projects from inception to completion. Projects will span HVAC, plumbing, and sprinkler systems, with a particular focus on multi-residential developments. Teamwork and cooperation with the entire team are essential to achieving shared goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for building systems through 33%, 66%, and 99% design phases

• Conduct technical coordination with civil, electrical, architectural, and utility stakeholders

• Provide documentation and analysis including gas load, water demand, and design briefs

• Attend site meetings, perform site visits, and respond to RFIs, shop drawings, and coordination changes

• Ensure all construction-related responses are fully coordinated and aligned with client priorities

• Align and support quality assurance and quality control on all projects

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design (preferably within buildings)

• Strong understanding of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems

• Experience with multi-residential and institutional projects is highly preferred

• Strong coordination skills with cross-disciplinary teams

• Proficient in industry-standard design software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)

• Excellent communication and technical report writing skills

• P.Eng designation

• Highly developed analytical, decision making, problem solving and conflict resolution skills, with a history of successfully demonstrating collaboration, teamwork, innovation, organization, coordination and planning skills.

• Strong leadership and management skills as evidenced by past successful performance, with demonstrated supervisory competencies including the ability to coach, hold accountable, mentor, engage and motivate staff.
