Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Alberta offices are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead water related infrastructure projects. The right candidate will have a combination of project management and technical skills suited to lead in the delivery of water conveyance, water resources, and water treatment projects for public and private sector clients in Alberta, and across Western Canada. Projects would include multi-disciplinary engineering assessment and design related to: pump stations and conveyance for water and wastewater, canals and irrigation systems, tunneling and other trenchless installations, dikes and other flood mitigations, dams and water control structures, and both water and wastewater treatment plants. It is expected that the Senior Project Manager will utilize their knowledge and experience on similar projects to guide their project teams. The Senior Project Manager will perform a variety of tasks which may include business development, client meetings, financial management, schedule management, coordination of tasks and personnel, and mentoring junior staff. You will lead project teams in the execution projects to ensure delivery, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Technical analysis within your area of professional practice and coordinating and writing multi-disciplinary reports will often be a necessary part of project management.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee, manage and be responsible for the delivery of assigned multi-disciplinary projects that are of varying levels of size and complexity.

  • Participate in the assessment or design work as your skills dictate and provide leadership on multi-disciplinary report and proposal writing.

  • Set the priorities for your project teams, including defining their scope of work, budgets and their schedules for completing the work.

  • Serve as the project's point of contact with clients, agencies, stakeholders and others to obtain and determine project requirements and secure approvals.

  • Manage and monitor both the financial performance of budgets and on time delivery performance of assigned projects.

  • Conduct or arrange for quality assurance and quality control reviews, including the evaluation of the completed work for accuracy and completeness.

  • Mentoring junior and intermediate staff to develop project management and technical skills.

  • Manage client expectations and relationships.

  • Support marketing and business development activities in positioning for potential projects, writing proposals or technical portions of multidisciplinary proposals, participating in client interviews, and supporting negotiations for project contracts.

  • Account management.

  • Quality Management reviews.

  • Help develop and ensure the ongoing success of a high performance team through mentorship and development.

  • Attend in house and formal training sessions to ensure continuing professional development

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proven project management experience on water infrastructure projects.

  • Experience working with provincial, municipal, irrigation, community development, mining and industrial clients in Alberta and Western Canada.

  • Excellent communication, written, and presentation skills.

  • Understands all phases of delivery for multi-disciplinary assessment and design projects related to water and water infrastructure.

  • Collaborative in nature, with sufficient technical ability and experience to lead multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Technical experience in key areas of civil, water resources or water treatment engineering.

  • Advanced understanding of project management concepts and principles. PMP Certification would be an asset.

  • Experience with the use of Microsoft Office software suite. Experience with Microsoft Project is an asset.

  • Highly skilled in technical writing and literacy for: engineering assessment and design reports, contracts, proposals, promotional and project communications.

  • Experienced at communicating technical material to stakeholders and persons with varying levels of technical understanding.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or equivalent.

  • Eligible to be licensed as a P.Eng. with APEGA in the Province of Alberta.

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License.

  • Minimum of 15 years of consulting engineering experience. Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Pay Range:

• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 132,300.00 - Max Salary $ 198,400.00

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
