Summary of responsibilities:

The Senior Advisor, IT Planning is responsible for creating long term system plans based on system life cycles and changes in business needs. They take a proactive role in ensuring IT is planning and delivering for the business with an understanding of both the market and the business needs of CATSA IT systems and their inter-relational nature. The Senior Advisor, IT Planning performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.

What you need to succeed
To qualify for the position, you must have:

  •           Graduation from a recognized college or university with specialization in Computer Science, Technology, Information Management, Business Administration, or another specialty relevant to the duties of the position or a combination of education and experience.

  •           A minimum of six (6) years of experience in IT planning, status briefing and establishing contingency plans using Project Management best practices.

  •           A minimum of six (6) years of experience advising and communicating key initiatives, risks and options to IT management and stakeholders.

  •           Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements for business systems.

  •           Knowledge and understanding of project management, quality assurance principles and practices.

  •           Experience providing status reporting risk and issues logs and mitigations plans.

  •           Experience developing effective and efficient solutions by researching and analyzing current state system capabilities and defining technology solutions options and recommendations.

  •           Experience facilitating meetings and workshops, as well as developing and delivering presentations and materials for various audience levels.

  •           Solid knowledge of the IT environment, including IT System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

  •           Ability to facilitate teams and client relationships to satisfy needs and identify improvements.

  •           Ability to develop strong relationships with all levels of management.

  •           Strong client service orientation.

  •           Strong organizational skills.

  •           Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

Valuable skills include:

  •           Knowledge of CATSA's mandate and priorities, as well as an awareness of relevant legislation impacting CATSA.

  •           Knowledge of a varying number of IT systems, hardware, and software.

  •           Intermediate knowledge of application development and design principles.

  •           Intermediate to advanced data analysis skills.

  •           Knowledge of activities pertaining to Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  •           Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation-certified.

  •           Data analyst certified.

  •           PMP certification or equivalent.

Specific work requirements

  •        Ability to work overtime as required;

  •        Ability to travel as required

  •        Language Profile: Anglish Essential;

  •        Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; and

  •        Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
