About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a construction-focused organization to hire a Bookkeeper who will take ownership of key financial and administrative processes tied to active projects. This permanent, full-time role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on bookkeeping, values accuracy, and feels comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

 

You will work closely with a small, experienced accounting team and the CFO, supporting everything from project billing to payroll and reconciliations. This role offers long-term stability and real room to grow, with the potential to step into a more senior accounting or controller-level position over the long-term.

Your Responsibilities

• You’ll manage full-cycle accounts payable and receivable, including progress billing, holdbacks, and subcontractor payments.
• You’ll prepare and process client invoices, collections, and intercompany transactions.
• You’ll track job costs, monitor project budgets, and support basic profitability analysis.
• You’ll process payroll and union remittances, ensuring compliance with tax and reporting requirements.
• You’ll prepare monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
• You’ll reconcile credit card statements, verify tax accuracy, and resolve discrepancies.
• You’ll maintain organized financial records to support audits, filings, and internal reviews.

 

Skills and Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally in a construction environment.
• Strong understanding of progress billing, holdbacks, and construction contract processes.
• Experience with intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office, with experience using Jonas, Sage, or QuickBooks considered an asset.
• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong attention to detail, solid communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
