Position Description

A Vice President or Director level position within the Infrastructure Capital Markets team, focused on providing clients with debt advisory and debt placement services.  The Infrastructure Capital Markets team sits within Debt Capital Markets at BMO Capital Markets.  The position involves a combination of deep industry sector expertise, innovative thinking in a team-based approach and world class execution across a full suite of products to clients through an integrated Capital Markets platform.

Key Accountabilities

  • Operate as a key member of the infrastructure Debt Capital Markets team within the broader DCM practice
  • Support senior bankers in originating and executing project and infrastructure financing and advisory mandates including:
    • Developing and maintaining relationships with key clients in the infrastructure sector
    • Identifying and pursuing revenue opportunities in collaboration with sector and product partners across BMO
    • Understand client needs and provide relevant ideas that meet those needs
    • Managing financial modeling workstreams
    • Structuring and negotiating financing documents
    • Developing and executing rating agency strategies for clients
    • Conduct due diligence
    • Maintaining relationships with fixed income investors
    • Work with specialists as needed to support successful deal completion
  • Maintain awareness of all firm products and services offered
  • Assists in the development of strategic plans and support the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage associate and analyst teams including coordinating staffing, providing oversight and direction, monitoring performance, and providing actionable feedback
  • Work with other investment banking product and industry coverage group on transactions involving infrastructure, project finance, or investment grade debt issuances

Qualifications:

  • Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • An undergraduate degree. Focal areas of finance, economics, or accounting preferred with high academic achievement
  • MBA, CFA or equivalent experience in financial services, accounting, or legal fields
  • Minimum of [4] years of relevant experience in Debt Capital Markets, negotiating and structuring debt transactions placed with fixed-income investors
  • Displays advanced deal execution and/or project management skills - ability to manage more than one client / major initiative.
  • Demonstrates strong market knowledge to enable the comprehensive servicing of clients and the effective development of new solutions.
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.

Base Salary:

Vice President level: $150,000

Director level: $175,000

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
