Policy & Program Coordinator

Location: Ottawa, ON (Hybrid – 2 days onsite, flexible which days)
Type: Temporary to Permanent
Compensation: $30–32/hour

About the Role

We are seeking a Policy & Program Coordinator to join our client in Ottawa. This role is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional interested in policy, program coordination, and the energy/utilities sector.

The position is a mix of program administration and policy support. You will help coordinate mutual assistance programs that support utilities during outages, while also contributing to policy research and committee work on issues such as telecom, metering, and grid modernization.

This is a great stepping-stone role, the organization envisions moving the successful hire into a more advanced policy or government relations position within a year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for mutual assistance programs (meeting scheduling, records management, member coordination).

  • Support policy committees by preparing materials, documenting discussions, and reporting on outcomes.

  • Conduct research on issues such as telecom, metering, and grid modernization.

  • Draft briefing notes and submissions in collaboration with the Government Relations team.

  • Actively contribute to committee meetings (not leading, but engaging with subject-matter experts).

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in public policy, political science, environmental studies, energy, or a related field.

  • Some relevant experience in program coordination, administration, or policy support (association experience is an asset).

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Comfortable engaging with industry experts and stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms.
