Stormwater Master Planning
The Stormwater Master Planning unit resides within the Water Resources Planning and Engineering branch of Asset Management. The unit leads and provides technical oversight in the preparation and approval of master servicing and stormwater planning studies required to support development in greenfield growth areas and rural villages. This unit implements key components of the Infrastructure Master Plan including the Stormwater Management Strategy, the Stormwater Retrofit Program, and technical support for the development and implementation of Watershed, Sub-watershed, and Environmental Management Plans. This unit also manages aspects of natural hazards including floodplain mapping and erosion and slope stability issues related to growth.
You provide technical input in the preparation, review and approval of master servicing studies and stormwater planning studies required to support development in greenfield growth areas and rural villages. You support the team through coordinating the activities of external consultants engaged in background studies and conceptual functional design studies. You also support the unit in accomplishing its goals by applying technical skills in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, municipal infrastructure systems, water resources, design and construction . You participate on multi- -disciplinary committees conducting Watershed Studies, Sub-watershed Studies, and Community Design Plans and carry out other related duties, as required.
Intensification Servicing
The Intensification Servicing unit resides within the Water Resources Planning and Engineering branch of Asset Management. This unit manages infrastructure planning to support urban intensification across the city. It contributes in developing strategies for stormwater, water, and wastewater systems for intensification; coordinating with renewal planning efforts; and enabling infill development through proactive infrastructure solutions. The unit manages the on-site stormwater management program and conducts flow monitoring and inflow & infiltration studies to mitigate the impacts of intensification growth.
You contribute to a range of initiatives aimed at improving servicing capacity and infrastructure delivery, these include recommending suggestions for developing a funding framework for intensification-related infrastructure, implementing a servicing program for capacity tracking, and supporting development review through flood pathway screening. You are required to assess fire flow capacity risks and contribute to sanitary system capacity improvements via wet weather impact assessments. You are involved in supporting conceptual servicing studies and functional designs. You are also required to functionally manage consultant’s deliverables, conduct system modeling and data analysis, and mentoring junior staff. You are required to collaborate across departments and align with city-wide planning priorities.
Completion of 4 year university degree in Water Resources Engineering or directly related field
Minimum of 6 years of experience in the field of water resources engineering including the analysis and design of water distribution, wastewater collection and storm water management facilities as well as a knowledge of related management and policy issues
