We are helping our client in the search for an Accounts Payable Clerk. This role will support the Accounts Payable team with invoice processing, payment preparation, and reconciliations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with early career AP experience to build their skills in a supportive environment. This is a contract role expected to last approximately 1-month, with the possibility of extension. This is a hybrid role based in Ottawa, ON.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and company procedures during payment processing
  • Assist with preparing and issuing payments through various methods (cheques, EFT, etc.)
  • Reconcile AP accounts, including intercompany balances, rent, CAM, and insurance
  • Monitor outstanding items and escalate issues as needed
  • Respond to vendor and internal inquiries courteously and efficiently
  • Assist with month-end tasks, including reconciliations and supporting schedules
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit purposes
  • Support the AP team with ad hoc accounting and administrative tasks

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • 6 months to 2 years of Accounts Payable experience
  • Knowledge of AP processes: invoices, payment methods, and reconciliations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook; Adobe Pro considered an asset
  • Experience with ERP systems; Sage 300 strongly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work collaboratively
  • Effective time management and organizational skills

 

Education

  • College diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience)

 

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with Sage 300 in a professional setting
  • Experience with Adobe Pro
